Verran Lievi Pioggio

(Tempo di Guerra)

Verran lievi piogge e l’odore del suolo
E rondini in cerchi brillanti di suono;

E rane nei guazzi di notte a cantare
E pruni selvatici in bianco tremare,

Tordi, d’un fuoco leggero abbigliati
fischiando l’estro sui fili spinati;

E non uno di guerre saprà, non uno
una volta finita, se ne curerà.

Non uno, né albero o alato, in pensiero
Se il genere umano perisse davvero;

E lei, Primavera, aurorale apparire,
a stento saprebbe del nostro svanire.

There Will Come Soft Rains

Sara Teasdale

(War Time)

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white,

Robins will wear their feathery fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree
If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

Hnnu ì’ véniri sbrizzi

(Temp’i Guerra)

Hannu ì’ véniri sbrizzi e tirrenu ‘i ciarari
E runnuna ‘o firrìu cu faìddi ‘i sgriciari;

E giurani nte fossa a cantari a nuttata
Per’i pruna sarbaggi nta bbianca trimata,

Pittirrussa di focu esu esu vistuti
friscannu ncaluri nte fila puntuti;

E nuddu a sapìrinni riri ri guerra, nuddu
‘I quann’è ca finìu, ca st’accura.

Iddu àrburu o aceddu, cca nuddu ‘a chiancissi,
Sidd’a ggenti d’u munnu ri tunnu finissi;

E u tempu marzuddu, ri l’ura susutu,
A stentu sapissi ca nni nn’emu jutu.
