Sul molo il vento soffia forte. Gli occhi
hanno un calmo spettacolo di luce.
Va una vela piegata, e nel silenzio
la guida un uomo quasi orizzontale.
Silenzioso vola dalla testa
di un ragazzo un berretto, e tocca il mare
come un pallone il cielo. Fiamma resta
entro il freddo spettacolo di luce
la sua testa arruffata.

On the dock gusts of strong wind

On the dock gusts of strong wind. And eyes
that bear the calm spectacle of light.
A sail heeling goes, and in the silence
a man almost horizontal steering it.
Silently swept from the head
of a boy a cap, and it touches the sea
like a balloon would the sky. Like a flame
in that cold spectacle of light
stands his tousled head.
